About Brain Tumour Research
Brain Tumour Research is a leading campaigning organisation in the UK, focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. We aim to increase national research investment to £35 million annually and fund seven Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence across the UK. Despite being the deadliest cancer for under 40s, brain tumours receive only 1% of cancer research funding since 2002.
Role Overview
We seek to strengthen our Board of Trustees with members experienced in charitable fundraising, campaigning, and policy. Trustees play a vital role in strategic oversight, governance, and supporting sustainable growth. Meetings are held in Milton Keynes four times a year, with additional online sub-committee meetings three to four times annually. Trustees also participate in annual research workshops, receptions, and parliamentary events. The appointment is for a 3-year term, with potential extensions.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates have board or senior leadership experience, with significant expertise in fundraising, campaigning, or policy within the charity sector. Effective communication, strategic thinking, and collaboration skills are essential.
