This is a role as a Kitchen Assistant at Avery Healthcare, a leading provider of luxury elderly care homes in the UK. The role involves supporting the catering function in food preparation and maintaining a clean environment for the safe production of beverages and meals, ensuring a high-quality and comprehensive service is delivered to residents.


Main duties of the job

As a Kitchen Assistant, your focus will be to support the catering function in food preparation and maintaining a clean environment for the safe production of beverages and meals, ensuring a high-quality and comprehensive service is delivered to residents. Other responsibilities will include understanding the principles of safe food handling, contributing to team working, advising on the supply and quality of items used, and acting accordingly towards residents and their visitors.

Job responsibilities

* Package Description: Support in food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, and assisting in ensuring high-quality service for residents.
* Shift Details: Weekends - 07.00-15.00 / 12.00-20.00
* Contribute to safe food handling practices and team collaboration.
* Advise on supply and quality of kitchen items, ensuring timely ordering of replacements.
* Respect the dignity and individuality of residents and their visitors.


About You

Our ideal candidate:

* Holds a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and demonstrates high standards of personal hygiene.
* Has knowledge of Health and Safety, including Moving and Handling, Fire Safety, and COSHH assessments.
* Is an efficient worker capable of sustained physical effort and handling a demanding workload.
* Demonstrates initiative and a positive, flexible attitude towards team work.
* Exhibits a caring and understanding attitude towards residents.


Additional Information

This role requires:

* A DBS Disclosure check, with costs met by Avery Healthcare.
* Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.

Qualifications

* Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, high personal hygiene standards, knowledge of health and safety practices, and ability to handle physical workload.


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This position is subject to a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
