Specialist Pre-School – Deputy Manager

Phoenix Centre, Wordsley DY8 5PY

Annual Salary £21,776.85 – pro rata averaged monthly pay = £1814.74

( Base Salary 13.50 hour = £19,750.50 per annum + holiday pay = £2026.35 per annum)

An annual pay review is undertaken by the Trustees in March of each year

Work Place Pension Scheme – NEST

Work wear provided, plus Free parking on site

Fixed Term contract

38 hours per week: - Monday to Friday

Term Time only

An excellent opportunity has arisen withing our consistently outstanding special needs Early Years setting for a Deputy Manager. We are looking for a very passionate experienced individual with SEN experience to join our dedicated team of individuals. Bringing their expertise, dedication, and leadership skills to our special need’s preschool. This role is an opportunity to influence, guide, and support both staff and young children, ensuring the highest standards of care while fostering a nurturing and therapeutic environment.

The Suitable Candidate Must Have The Following

* An NVQ level 3 or higher qualification in childcare or equivalent
* A minimum 1-year nursery senior/ management experience
* Experience of working in SEN and Early Years.
* To work under the direction of the manager and deputise for them as and when required
* Excellent understanding, leading and planning of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework alongside the engagement for learning and welfare requirements, ensuring a safe, caring, stimulating environment to enable the social emotional and educational development.
* Excellent understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection, Health and Safety, Food Safety, Confidentiality and Whistle Blowing. Experience of completing risk assessments, care plans and reporting accidents/incidents.
* Overseeing the planning, monitoring, and development of the nursery setting. Supporting and promoting equality and diversity throughout all areas of practice
* Supervising and reviewing staff development and performance. Developing and maintaining professional relationships with external agencies.
* Very good knowledge of Ofsted standards and requirements.


An ability to work to deadlines, with a friendly, reliable and flexible approach.

The Phoenix Centre has a duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and to promote British Values and have a good knowledge of the Prevent Duty. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants will need to undertake an enhanced criminal records disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) the cost of which will be met by the employer. Provide two satisfactory references prior to their employment.
