Your role and responsibilities In this role, you'll be member of a small team that provide crucial support to our worldwide development and customer support teams. The role will involve the day to day support of a large data centre like environment, that we use to develop and support our products. You will have hands on access to our products, technologies and tools needed to build development and test configurations needed to develop and test our products. You will have the opportunity to work with and support colleagues from multiple time zones. You will: * Provide local support for colleagues who will be remotely accessing configurations at the IBM Hursley location * Design and build of configurations using the latest fibre channel, ethernet and storage technologies * Ensure the data centre environment is safe and well-ordered * Support the management of the lab inventory * Support incoming and outgoing shipments of hardware Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Ensuring the data centres are safe and tidy, reporting any issues observed * Assisting in the hardware build of new products * Supporting our worldwide teams request for configuration changes within test configurations within the data centres * Managing h/w and component inventory within the data centres * Supporting incoming and outgoing shipments to/from our partners and WW teams Required technical and professional expertise * Experience working with Excel - Experience installing Linux & VMware * Accurate and timely record keeping * Able and willing to safely move large and heavy hardware * Experience working within a data centre environment Preferred technical and professional experience * Experience working with servers, storage and networking technologies * Able to install data and power cables in a safe and tidy manner * Experience installing and removing hardware within 42U rack cabinets * Experience administering and supporting Linux & VMware IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
