Maths Teacher Start date: 01.09.2026 ( or sooner if available) Reports to: Headteacher We are a small, close-knit secondary SEN school in Newbury where relationships and confidence-building are at the heart of everything we do. Our students have learning difficulties, autism and social, emotional and mental health needs. Find out more about our school: https://www.northcroftschool.co.uk/ The Role You will teach Maths across our secondary year groups, delivering engaging lessons and helping shape an ambitious curriculum using White Rose Maths. With a small tutor group, you will be a key adult in students' lives, using the Thrive and PACE approach to manage behaviour with empathy. You will track progress, plan enrichment activities, and be part of a culture where your voice matters and you are trusted to lead. Key responsibilities Plan and deliver high-quality Maths lessons that support good progress and outcomes Adapt teaching to meet a wide range of needs, including SEND and SEMH Manage behaviour effectively to maintain a calm, safe and purposeful learning environment Provide strong pastoral support and promote pupils’ personal development and wellbeing Contribute to whole-school priorities and wider professional responsibilities in line with Teachers’ Standards Coordinate and develop your curriculum area, contributing to school improvement Support enrichment, revision and extra-curricular activities as required Essential requirements Good degree in a relevant subject and QTS Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 Maths with secure subject knowledge and awareness of current curriculum developments Strong adaptive teaching practice and a range of strategies to create a positive learning environment A positive, engaging teaching style with the ability to motivate and inspire young people Commitment to teamwork, collaboration and ongoing professional development Working pattern and benefits Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.00pm, with minimal after-hours commitments Friday afternoons are CPD time with no students on site, plus 10 INSET days across the year Therapeutic reflection and twice-daily briefings to support strong practice and consistency Regular offsite outdoor learning and enrichment sessions Hot lunch cooked on site every day Opportunities to collaborate across West Berkshire and with our partnership school, sharing expertise and best practice Life insurance (death in service) – 4x basic annual salary Health cash plan (Health Shield) – after probation, eligibility applies Training and development – induction and mandatory training, plus CPD, therapeutic support & further qualifications Free holiday accommodation – company holiday home on the south coast Discounts – Blue Light Card and local partner discounts Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) – free, confidential 24/7 support helpline Company pension with an award-winning provider and enhanced employer contributions Company sick pay scheme – after 6 months’ service Electric car scheme and Cycle to Work – salary sacrifice options Recognition – Employee of the Month and long service awards Discounted driving lessons with a local instructor Referral bonus scheme – financial incentives for successful referrals (criteria apply) Equality and Diversity Amegreen is committed to being an organisation where people can be their authentic selves in a safe and inclusive environment.
