This role offers the opportunity to influence how school buildings are maintained, invested in and ultimately handed back to the public sector — ensuring they remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose throughout the life of the contract. What you’ll be doing Leading on asset condition management across PFI contracts, ensuring buildings, infrastructure and equipment meet contractual and statutory requirements Monitoring lifecycle investment, maintenance quality and asset performance, challenging underinvestment or deferred maintenance Carrying out and overseeing condition surveys, audits and technical inspections across a large and complex portfolio Providing expert technical advice to senior stakeholders on risks, compliance, lifecycle planning and handback readiness Working with SPVs, FM providers and internal teams to manage issues, disputes, variations and commercial decisions where technical input is required What we’re looking for A chartered or professionally qualified building or property professional (e.g. MRICS or equivalent) Significant experience advising on building condition, asset management or capital programmes within complex or public‑sector environments Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, lifecycle planning and condition management The confidence to influence, challenge and hold contractors to account using sound technical judgement A collaborative, analytical approach and a clear commitment to professional standards and continuous development If you’re looking for work where your decisions shape outcomes, protect public investment and leave a lasting legacy on the built environment, this could be the role for you.
