Mechanical Design Engineer, £35K - £42K, Bourne, Peterborough
In this role you will enjoy:
* £35,000 to £42,000 salary guide (depending on experience) + pension + 25 days holiday + bank holidays
* Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (40 hours per week)
* Well established engineering business designing and manufacturing mobile cabins and associated products for the construction sector. They have also recently diversified into new product streams.

Your background as a Mechanical Design Engineer
* Relevant mechanical engineering qualification (Degree, HND, HNC)
* Previous experience in a mechanical design engineer role within a manufacturing or mechanical engineering environment
* Proficient with 3D CAD software (Creo preferred, but SolidWorks, Inventor or similar also suitable)
* Self‑starter mindset, comfortable taking ownership of complete projects.
Mechanical Design Engineer responsibilities
* Interpret design briefs and develop practical, innovative engineering solutions
* Produce detailed drawings for manufacture across machined and fabricated components.
* Manage products through the design process from concept to production
* Create and maintain accurate bills of materials and technical files
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of products and design processes
This Mechanical Design Engineer position is commutable from Peterborough, Melton Mowbray, Newark-on‑Trent, Bourne, Grantham, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas.
