We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, positive and confident mobile Maintenance Fitter based in the Newton Abbot area.
The role of the Maintenance Fitter will be to support the existing team in maintaining and repairing the Quarry, Concrete and Asphalt plants we cover.
Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate and co-ordinate the repair and maintenance of Quarrying, Asphalt and Concrete plants, including carrying out repairs/maintenance for concrete plants, crushers, stone dryers, screening equipment, bucket elevators, conveyor systems, and some hydraulic & pneumatic equipment.
2. Assist management in the programming of scheduled maintenance aligned to production requirements.
3. Undertake risk assessment and associated paperwork, where required, to ensure a suitable and effective safe system of work.
4. Provide flexibility to undertake emergency repairs as they arise.
5. Complete oxy/fuel cutting, abrasive wheels, and basic welding course to carry out some onsite fabrication jobs on occasions.
This role is predominantly outdoors in all weather, therefore it requires someone with a love for the outdoors.
The successful candidate is required to have an adaptable skill set, previous experience as a mechanical fitter in a similar role/environment, and good hands-on experience of risk assessments. You should be able to work as part of a busy team or individually, and communicate effectively at all levels.
You will need to have good communication skills and be a team player. A Full Driving Licence is essential as this role covers sites in Devon and Cornwall, as is a professional qualification/experience and/or being a time-served apprentice.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent. Could suit self-employed.
