About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join a warm, inclusive, and values-driven primary school in North Ashton, Wigan, starting September 2025. This is a rewarding full-time role, ideal for someone with experience supporting children with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and other support staff to deliver targeted interventions, one-to-one support, and tailored learning strategies that help pupils access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND.
* Assist in the delivery of personalised learning plans and interventions.
* Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and pupil engagement.
* Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCO, and parents to ensure consistent support.
* Support children in building confidence, independence, and resilience within the classroom.
Essential Criteria:
* Experience supporting children with SEN in school or similar settings.
* A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to learning and behaviour management.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* A Child Workforce Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
* Relevant qualifications (such as CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent) are desirable.
