We are seeking a Project Manager who has experience of working within the rail industry with a basic level of technical knowledge (ideally in track but any discipline/overall capacity).
The successful candidate will work as part of the Technical Services team to help in the development and delivery of our core technical business offerings. In addition, the successful candidate will spend 1 day/week supporting the Professional Registration team.
Responsibilities
* Ownership of our Lunch and Learn programme: obtaining speakers, suitable chairs and delivering a regular programme of virtual events.
* Facilitating the relationship with and between our Heritage Corporate Members.
* Working alongside the Events Manager to deliver our annual flagship Practical Trackwork Challenge.
* Building a relationship with our pool of PWI Ambassadors and strengthening links to Young Rail Professionals (YRP).
* Managing the technical content of the Knowledge Hub.
* Supporting the Professional Registration team on a one day/week basis.
* Attending internal meetings and supporting at Rail Industry events and exhibitions (eg Rail Live, Technical Seminars, etc.).
* Getting involved with various initiatives to grow the membership.
* Assisting members of the Technical Services team with administrative duties.
Who we are looking for
This role will speak to someone who enjoys both working independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the UK rail industry, its supplier base, and regulatory matters. The person will have excellent Project Management skills in a railway context and will be able to work in a collaborative manner with the wider team, our membership and stakeholder groups. Enthusiastic, independent thought, and a proactive manner are all pre-requisites for the role.
Essential requirements
* Project Management experience of working in the rail industry.
* An appreciation of the technical disciplines encountered in the rail environment.
* Demonstrable experience of working in a collaborative manner.
* Experience of working with volunteers.
* Active management of personal PDP and CPD activity.
* Advocate for the railway industry.
