We are seeking a dedicated School Exams Officer to join our team at a large secondary academy in Blackpool, FY4. This crucial term-time role ensures the smooth and efficient running of all examination processes, with the potential to become a permanent position for an outstanding candidate.
Location: A large Secondary Academy, FY4 Blackpool Contract Type: Temporary, Term-Time (with potential to become permanent for the right candidate) Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
As our Exams Officer, you'll be the central point of contact for all examination-related matters, working closely with a wide range of stakeholders including:
1. Internal: Students, parents, Heads of Departments, Heads of Years, teachers, reception staff, site staff, and IT staff.
2. External: Awarding organisations.
Key Responsibilities:
Your role will encompass the entire examination life cycle, including:
3. Staying Current: Keeping abreast of examination changes each academic year.
4. Invigilator Management: Recruiting, training, and updating new and existing invigilators on rules and regulation changes annually.
5. Policy Management: Updating examination-related policies to ensure compliance.
6. Examination Entry Process: Managing all examination entries, gathering information from teaching staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness, and handling amendments/withdrawals.
7. Examination Preparation: Creating and distributing examination timetables for students and staff, developing seating plans, briefing candidates, staff, and parents, securely storing confidential examination materials, and administering internal assessments.
8. Access Arrangements Support: Collaborating with the SENCo to manage applications, rooming, invigilator training, and emergency access arrangements.
9. Examination Day Management: Overseeing all aspects of examination days in strict accordance with awarding body regulations, including preparation, starting exams, managing emergencies, irregularities, and malpractice, ending exams, and securely collecting, packing, and dispatching scripts.
10. Contingency Planning: Developing and implementing contingency plans for unforeseen circumstances.
11. Results Management: Accessing and downloading results electronically, preparing for the dissemination of results to students, and handling all post-results services and requests.
12. Certificate Issuing: Administering the issuing of examination certificates.
About You:
We are looking for someone who is exceptionally organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure. You'll need strong administrative skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Experience in an educational setting, particularly with examination processes, would be a significant advantage.
