Love bringing literature to life?
Some teachers make Shakespeare feel like a chore.
Others make students argue passionately about Macbeth in the corridor at lunchtime.
If you're the second kind, keep reading.
We're working with a welcoming secondary school looking for an English Teacher who can inspire a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive department where creativity is encouraged, ideas are shared, and great teaching is genuinely valued.
Whether you're an experienced English Teacher looking for a fresh challenge or an Early Career Teacher ready to start your journey, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
You'll be teaching English Language and Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students build confidence in everything from persuasive writing to poetry analysis.
Your day-to-day role will include:
* Planning and delivering engaging English lessons
* Creating a classroom where students feel challenged, supported, and motivated
* Assessing progress and providing meaningful feedback
* Encouraging a love of reading and literature beyond the classroom
* Working closely with colleagues to share ideas and best practice
* Supporting students of varying abilities to achieve their full potential
* Contributing to the wider life of the school community
The school
This is a school that understands great teaching starts with supporting great teachers.
You'll be joining a collaborative English department with strong leadership, excellent resources, and a genuine focus on staff wellbeing. Behaviour is well managed, students are eager to learn, and you'll have the freedom to bring your own style and personality into the classroom.
No unnecessary faff. Just good teaching, supportive colleagues, and students who deserve the very best.
We're looking for someone who:
* Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
* Has experience teaching English Language and Literature
* Can build positive relationships with students and staff
* Brings energy, enthusiasm, and creativity to lessons
* Has strong classroom management skills
* Believes every student can succeed with the right support
* Wants to make a real difference every single day
Bonus points if you have:
* Experience teaching GCSE English
* Knowledge of current curriculum requirements
* Experience supporting students with SEND
* A passion for extracurricular activities such as creative writing clubs, debating societies, school productions, or journalism projects
