The Role
To work as a Broadcast Support Engineer, providing support to the various broadcast facilities operated by NEP Connect and its clients.
Responsibilities
* Providing 2nd line support to broadcast equipment within studios, apparatus rooms, and galleries (e.g., production switchers, broadcast cameras, AV routers, audio mixers, modular infrastructure “glue”).
* Providing 2nd line support to our Net Insight Nimbra AnyLive network and associated equipment.
* Supporting and maintaining various IP networks using hardware such as Cisco, Arista, and FS.
* Supporting our satellite dish farm with reactive fault finding and preventative maintenance.
* Evaluating technical problems using appropriate broadcast and networking test and measurement equipment.
* Approaching problem solving creatively.
* Working both in teams and independently.
* Keeping the Broadcast Support Manager/Production/NOC Staff appraised of the status of any issues.
* Logging all faults and irregularities and passing information between shifts.
* Assisting with in‑house broadcast project and installation work.
* Performing preventative maintenance as necessary.
* Overseeing external contractors (e.g., UPS maintenance teams, electrical safety teams).
* Ensuring system documentation is up to date.
* Maintaining good knowledge of industry best practice.
* Staying up to date with developments in relevant technical fields.
Required Skills / Qualifications
* Network and broadcast engineering background; minimum academic standard of HNC/HND level or equivalent.
* Good understanding of IP technologies.
* Good understanding of communication systems including mobile and fixed links (terrestrial and satellite).
* Knowledge and experience in fault finding on broadcast systems.
