The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Structural Engineer to join a growing, design-led civil and structural engineering consultancy in their Bristol office.
This is a senior-level position ideally suited to a Chartered Engineer looking to move beyond pure project delivery. You’ll play a key role in client engagement, business development, and team growth — with the chance to shape and build your own team within an established office of around 12 professionals.
The consultancy delivers high-quality commercial and residential schemes with a boutique approach, focusing on carefully selected clients, bespoke engineering solutions, and technical excellence — all without the constraints of a large corporate structure.

The Role

As an Associate Structural Engineer, you’ll take on a position that combines technical leadership with commercial and client-facing responsibilities, helping drive both successful project delivery and the continued growth of the Bristol office.

Key responsibilities include:
Leading the design and delivery of commercial and residential structural projects
Acting as a key client contact and trusted engineering advisor
Building and maintaining strong long-term client relationships
Supporting business development and securing repeat and new work
Mentoring, managing, and growing a team of engineers
Maintaining high standards of technical quality and consistency
Collaborating closely with architects and multidisciplinary design teams
Contributing to the strategic growth and expansion of the Bristol office This role offers genuine autonomy, influence, and the opportunity to build something of your own within a supportive and established business.

About You

We’re looking for a confident and commercially minded Chartered Structural Engineer who can demonstrate:

Chartered status (MIStructE or MICE)
Strong experience delivering commercial and residential projects
Proven success in client-facing roles and relationship management
A track record in business development and winning work
Leadership experience, or the ambition to build and lead a team
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
A proactive, entrepreneurial approach What’s In It For You?

This consultancy values leadership, trust, and performance, offering:

Salary of £65,000 – £70,000
Competitive package including bonus, healthcare, and pension
Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
Clear progression beyond Associate level
The opportunity to build and lead your own team
A collaborative, supportive, and design-focused culture
High-quality projects without corporate red tape Why This Role?

If you’re ready to step into an Associate role — or already operating at this level but looking for a stronger platform — this is a rare chance to take ownership of clients, shape a team, and grow a regional presence within a highly respected consultancy.
