The post holder will be directly responsible to the Executive Director of Nursing and Integrated Care.

As a key member of the Nursing and Integrated Care Senior Management Team, NMAHP Leadership and Advisory Group, and Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s Professional and Clinical Leadership group you will be a highly visible, proactive and accessible midwifery leader, acting as a role model and clinical resource providing professional leadership for Midwives across the organisation and to provide expert midwifery advice across HIS programmes of work in order that all appropriate professional standards are met within HIS. You will have significant experience of working in a complex, emergence environment ensuring that within HIS you are able to provide oversight and guidance, as well as constructive challenge in relation to the strategic planning and delivery of programmes of Midwifery Improvement and Assurance at national level.

Candidates must hold current active registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and have recent experience of working in a senior leadership role providing professional and clinical oversight and guidance in relation to strategic planning and delivery of care. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills will be fundamental to success in this role, as well as the ability to build upon current professional and clinical networks.
