Overview
Are you organised, proactive and enthusiastic about providing exceptional customer experiences? Are you looking for a varied part-time role where your work supports a diverse range of activities? If so, you might be who we’re looking for to join us in the Valley Graphics team at the University of Southampton.
Role and Responsibilities
The Delivery Driver is an important role at Valley Graphics, which is an internal, multi-function service offering design, print and signage to meet the needs of the University community. With customers from both staff and students and from external organisations, the team’s extensive experience and knowledge of design services and print and signage products aims to add value by delivering excellent customer experiences.
You’ll work collaboratively with your colleagues to complete the final stage of the customer journey – delivering a wide range of print and signage products.
This involves face-to-face interaction with our customers, so you will need to be polite, friendly and a confident ambassador for Valley Graphics. Organisation and efficiency are key skills to bring to the role, allowing you to safely deliver goods (both large and small) within specified timeframes and with proof of delivery recorded.
This is a part-time role and we are looking for someone who can work 5 hours a day Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:30am to 2:30pm. Overtime is not guaranteed, although there may be opportunities to work additional hours during periods of peak demand.
What You’ll Do
* Provide professional, effective, timely and customer-focused delivery services to the University community, delivering between various sites and external partners (typically within a 50-mile radius but occasionally beyond).
* Plan your own daily delivery schedules and determine appropriate delivery routes based on customer requirements, business priorities and timeliness. Plan for deliveries outside of normal mileages, arranging permits etc. if required.
* Deal with face-to-face customer queries at the point of delivery or escalate to other colleagues in the team to ensure smooth completion of the customer journey, while giving an exceptional customer experience.
* Contribute to the ongoing development of delivery services and processes through collaborative continuous improvement activity within the team.
What You’ll Bring
* A full clean UK driving licence.
* Previous experience within a delivery driver role.
* Great communication skills, with the ability to seek information and clarify detail if required.
* Experience in a customer-facing role with awareness of how to meet customer needs.
* The ability to prioritise and manage your allocated workload, demonstrating flexibility to meet changing or conflicting needs.
