About
Blue Arrow is currently recruiting a Multi Skilled Engineer to join our client's expanding team based in the Baglan area. Our client is a global leader in Water and Hygiene.
Salary: 45,000pa (36k + 25% SA)
Contract: Temporary, ongoing position with potential to become permanent based on performance and job fit.
Shift Pattern: 3 rotating shifts weekly:
Mornings: Mon-Fri, 6am-2pm
Afternoons: Mon-Fri, 2pm-10pm
Nights: Sun-Thurs, 10pm-6am
Job Purpose
To provide high-quality engineering support to production and operations by maintaining, improving, and repairing equipment to maximize uptime and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have mechanical and electrical skills and experience in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on machinery.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and automation faults.
* Participate in continuous improvement activities, including lean initiatives and root cause analysis.
* Support production in achieving OEE targets.
* Maintain site safety, quality, and hygiene standards.
* Assist with equipment installation, commissioning, and upgrades.
* Contribute to project work and process improvements.
* Collaborate with other departments such as quality and H&S.
Skills & Experience Required
* Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering).
* Experience in a multi-skilled engineering role within FMCG or similar environment.
* Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in mechanical and electrical fault finding and repair.
* Experience with PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation is desirable.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities.
Desirable
* Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
* Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP) if applicable.
