Job Role: Multi-Site Security Officer
Contract Type: Zero hours
Shift Times: Evenings, 19:00-00:00
Pay: £14.80 per hour
Location: Hammersmith, W6 7AB
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Overview
We are seeking a professional and personable Security Officer to provide a visible security presence at the entrance of a busy hostel in Hammersmith, just a two minute walk from Hammersmith Underground (District & Piccadilly Lines).
The role is focused on maintaining safety, managing access, and setting the right tone at the main entrance during evening hours.
You will work alongside on-site Reception staff, who are based at the hostel 24/7, supporting them by deterring unwanted behaviour, engaging positively with guests and visitors, and responding calmly and proportionately to issues as they arise.
This position requires a confident, observant individual with strong communication skills and a professional approach, capable of representing both the client and our organisation to a high standard in a busy Central London location.
The successful candidate must have a valid SIA Licence as a minimum. This role consists of working evening shifts from 19:00 to 00:00, and you must be able to consistently work these hours. There may also be opportunities for additional shifts at other Central London locations.
Duties
* Providing a highly visible and professional security presence at the main entrance of the hostel during evening hours
* Managing and monitoring access to the building, ensuring only authorised guests, visitors, and staff enter the premises
* Working closely with on-site Reception staff to support the safe and smooth running of the hostel, acting as a first point of contact where required
* Preventing losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing offenders of policy and procedures
* Preventing and escalating incidents in a timely, accurate and appropriate manner to the Control Room, Shift Manager, Operations Manager, or Emergency Services as appropriate for serious incidents
* Completing reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities
* Maintaining organisation's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements
* Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
* Engaging positively with guests and visitors, setting the right tone at the entrance and delivering a welcoming yet security‑focused service
* Understanding the needs of our customer, responding accordingly to customer queries and requests and take appropriate action
* Maintaining professional conduct at all times
Requirements
* Full 5-year employment checkable history
* Valid frontline SIA licence DS or SG
* Customer Service experience and confidence to handle conflict in a correct manner
* Flexible to meet the job requirements
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
* Smart appearance and be well-groomed
* Reliable and punctual
* High level of enthusiasm and passion
* Ability to work in a fast-moving environment
