Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to join our team in either York (UK) and Perth (Scotland). The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and takeoffs for projects in construction. This role requires an understanding of cost control and the ability to analyse data effectively to provide reliable estimates that support our business objectives. This role would be ideal for a postgraduate or someone who is keen to progress into a Senior Estimator role. There is no requirement for previous Estimator work experience, just a desire to learn and progress in the company and role.
Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects; including materials, labour, and overheads.
* Collaborate with Pre-construction Managers to gather necessary information for accurate estimations.
* Conduct thorough analysis of project specifications and drawings to identify potential risks and opportunities for cost savings.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, pricing, and market conditions to ensure competitive estimates.
* Review and adjust estimates as necessary based on changes in project scope or specifications.
* Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts for projects.
* Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures regarding cost control and estimation processes.
Qualifications & Requirements
* No qualification is essential but a degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction is desirable.
* An understanding of cost control principles and practices.
* Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
* Proficient in using estimation software and tools, along with Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey information to team members and potential contractors.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Based in York (UK) or Perth (Scotland).
