Band 6 REACTT Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist

This static Band 6 Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist will undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and work in accordance with the standards, policies, and procedures established within the Rapid Emergency and Acute Care Therapy (REACT) clinical area.


Main duties of the job

To provide an advanced standard of therapy assessment and treatment of a specialist caseload within the Emergency Department (ED), Adult Assessment Unit (AAU), and the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Floor and Clinics to patients, carers, and families without direct supervision. Access to advice and support from team leads is available when required. Clinical work is routinely evaluated. To work in a trans-disciplinary therapy team including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, therapy support workers, dieticians, and speech and language therapists. To work with patients' families or carers to provide an advanced level of support, education, and expectation regarding the outcome of hospital attendance. To supervise, teach, and appraise Band 5 therapists and support workers. To participate in Continuing Professional Development, evidence-based audit, and research projects that will enhance the service. The Band 6 therapist will be included in the 7-day working rota, which involves working up to 1 weekend every 4 weeks, plus 2 Bank Holidays per year. Two consecutive scheduled days off will be given in the week before or after the weekend worked, and Agenda for Change pay enhancements apply. Additionally, the Band 6 therapist will be included in the extended hours rota covering 8 am to 8 pm.

Person Specification


Education & professional Qualifications

* HCPC Registration
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
* Membership of a specialist interest group
* Evidence of attendance at relevant postgraduate courses


Experience

* Experience in a broad acute rotational post, including A&E and acute medicine
* Experience with complex discharge planning
* Experience working at band 6 level


Skills and aptitudes

* Ability to work across Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy disciplines
* Ability to make clinical decisions based on rapid assessments and work under pressure
* Accurate documentation skills
* Sound reasoning skills
* Effective communication skills
* Willingness to participate in weekend, bank holiday, and extended hours rota
* Teaching and supervision experience
* Experience supporting students or therapy support workers
* Involvement in audit, research, and quality improvement


Personal Qualities & attributes

* Evidence of maintaining Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in a portfolio
* Knowledge of current occupational therapy or physiotherapy practices
* Understanding of Evidence-Based Practice
* Awareness of legal responsibilities such as confidentiality, consent, and documentation
* Understanding of clinical governance and quality issues
* Participation in relevant postgraduate courses
* Knowledge of NHS, Emergency Medicine, and local issues

Salary: £44,485 to £52,521 per annum, inclusive of HCAS
