Your role
We are looking for someone who wants to join our Environmental Protection Team as an Environmental Protection Officer (EPO).
You will need an environmental degree (Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or Geography) and extensive experience in:
* Planning consultations, especially for land contamination
* Environmental permitting
* Land contamination
* Acoustics
The Environmental Protection Team is responsible for:
* Responding to planning consultations for air quality, noise, and land contamination
* Air quality monitoring, reporting and improvement initiatives
* Environmental permitting: inspecting businesses and issuing/varying permits
* Contaminated land
* Private water supplies
About you
* Confident and highly motivated team player with eye for detail and sound knowledge of environmental protection legislation and guidance
* Experience in a local authority or private sector dealing with air quality, land contamination, noise
* Initiative and sound judgment, able to work across a broad technical area and range of environmental protection functions
* Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to listen, explain, negotiate and influence
* Supported with professional development to enhance skills and experience
