ID Recruitment are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join a busy mechanical engineering company located in Mayo to work on a major data centre project in Slough, UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of mechanical systems critical to the operation of high-availability facilities. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure mechanical systems are designed, installed, and maintained to the highest industry standards. As the role is in Slough, UK you will be required to work a shift pattern of 13 days on, 3 days off. Travel will be incorporated into the working days. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and coordination of mechanical systems (HVAC, chilled water, CRAC/CRAH units, pumps, piping, and ventilation systems) within the data centre environment. Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and calculations in line with project requirements and industry best practices. Support project planning, procurement, and installation activities, ensuring alignment with construction schedules. Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and technical audits to maintain quality and compliance. Liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants to manage design deliverables and resolve on-site issues. Ensure mechanical systems meet ASHRAE, CIBSE, and local UK building regulations standards. Provide technical support during commissioning and handover phases. Monitor and report progress, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. Required Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. 3–8 years’ experience in mechanical building services or data centre environments. Strong understanding of HVAC design principles, chilled water systems, and critical cooling infrastructure. Experience working with BIM/Revit, AutoCAD, and relevant design software Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and coordinate across disciplines. Knowledge of health & safety standards and environmental regulations in construction.
