Role: Children's Support Worker (Orchard Court)
Location: Mirfield, WF14 0DQ
Salary: £12.31/hr
Hours: Part-time 30hrs (include alternate weekends)
Hollybank Trust, founded in 1954, has achieved a reputation for attaining very high care standards, working with children, young people and adults who have profound and multiple learning disabilities and complex needs.
Orchard Court is one of our dedicated children's residential services in Mirfield. It boasts seven accessible, en-suite rooms, all wheelchair adapted and fitted with tracking hoists. It is a supportive environment with ongoing activities and opportunities for involvement and development.
We provide a respite service for families in addition to residential care. We are looking for motivated people to join our team to continue delivering high-quality, person-centred care to the children we support.

Main Responsibilities
Role Specific
* Develop autonomy by building relationships with children and young people to complement care programmes and contribute to a safe, pleasant living environment.
* Ensure effective communication with the multi-disciplinary team to maintain continuity and quality of care.
Communication
* Communicate and offer choice and independence to children and young people, adhering to the Mental Capacity Act where necessary, using appropriate verbal and non-verbal methods.
Nutritional Needs
* Support dietary requirements, monitor and encourage food and fluid intake, and involve individuals in choices.
* Prepare food following basic hygiene guidelines, ensuring independence and choice where possible.
Personal Care
* Assist with all areas of personal hygiene, including continence management, bathing and dressing, maintaining comfort, privacy and dignity.
* Maintain cleanliness and sanitation per Trust infection control procedures.
Medication
* Administer medication following Trust policies and procedures.
Manual Handling
* Apply correct lifting and handling techniques to ensure safety and comfort, using appropriate equipment and adhering to Trust guidelines.
Postural Management
* Follow physiotherapy postural guidelines to prevent deterioration and maintain physical condition.
Environment and Property
* Keep the environment safe and tidy; ensure bedrooms and communal areas are clean and any maintenance issues are reported.
Social, Leisure and Community Experience
* Support access to social and leisure activities to improve interaction and community links, ensuring enjoyment and development.
Documentation
* Accurately document tasks on required records (Kardex, Care Plans, MAR Sheets) and communicate with the team as needed; monitor changes in Care Plans to maintain high quality of care.
General
* Maintain awareness of best practice and contribute ideas to improve organisational performance.
* Participate in supervision, PDRs and ongoing training; identify training needs and complete actions in a timely manner.
* Act as a professional and positive ambassador for Hollybank.

* Promote Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, Disability Awareness and Data Protection policies; ensure compliant operation and safeguarding of young people as per procedures.

* Handle information in line with Data Protection Act and our governance policies, protecting privacy of children, young people and adults.
