Job Description Young Apprenticeship Programme Programme Length: 2 years - 1 day a week Join our Young Apprenticeship Programme to broaden your qualification portfolio, develop new skills, and strengthen applied skills in Maths, English, Science, Engineering, and IT. What is the programme? The programme is delivered in partnership between Rolls-Royce and one of our Derby training providers, Derby College or the Nuclear Skills Academy. Your practical and theoretical training will take place in the workshops at the Rolls-Royce Apprentice Academy or the Nuclear Skills Academy. The training takes place one day a week during term time on a Thursday. You’ll remain in school for the rest of the week and follow your normal curriculum timetable. As part of the programme, you’ll also undertake a week’s work experience project linked to Rolls-Royce. What entry requirements are there? You must be in Year 9 at the time of application and achieving a 95% or above attendance rate at school. You’ll also need to be studying GCSE Maths, English and Science (excluding Biology). Alongside that, you’ll need: An interest in the practical side of engineering and enjoy making things To be open-minded, curious, and adaptable A love of learning and applying new skills You’ll also need to live within a reasonable travelling distance to the Rolls-Royce Apprentice Academy or the Nuclear Skills Academy. What qualifications do I receive? If you successfully complete the course, you’ll receive Engineering Operations Level 2 units and Level 2 Tech Award in Engineering. What happens after the programme? When you successfully complete the programme, and providing you meet the entry criteria, you’ll be given the opportunity to apply onto Rolls-Royce’s Advanced Apprenticeship. This brings together classroom study and on-the-job learning, giving you plenty of training, guidance, and support to develop invaluable skills, gain sought-after qualifications and establish a solid foundation for a successful engineering career in Rolls-Royce.
