Location: Bishop's Stortford
Salary: £43,000 - £53,000 (DOE)
Working Pattern: 4 on 4 off (07:00am - 19:00pm or 19:00pm - 07:00am)

About the Role
My client is seeking a skilled and proactive Engineer to join their engineering team at a busy manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe, compliant and efficient site operations by delivering high-quality engineering support across planned and reactive maintenance activities.
This is a hands-on role working across manufacturing areas, site facilities and utilities where you will help maintain plant reliability, reduce downtime and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across manufacturing equipment, facilities and utilities
* Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime and restore production efficiently
* Perform corrective maintenance activities across both low care and high care production areas
* Ensure all work is completed in line with GMP standards and company hygiene procedures
* Maintain full compliance with health and safety regulations and site engineering standards
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute ideas to improve equipment performance and reliability
* Diagnose faults and independently resolve engineering issues in a timely manner
* Maintain accurate engineering logs, reports and maintenance records
* Assist with organisation and control of engineering stores and spare parts availability
* Support external contractors on site ensuring safe working practices are followed
* Maintain engineering tools equipment and work areas in a safe clean and organised condition
* Communicate effectively with production teams and engineering colleagues to ensure smooth operations
* Attend production and engineering meetings as required to support operational planning
Requirements:
* Experience in a manufacturing or FMCG engineering environment
* Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills
* Ability to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance tasks
* Good understanding of health and safety and GMP standards
* Confident working independently as well as part of a team
* Strong communication and reporting skills
* Proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement
* Ability to manage workload effectively in a fast paced environment
* Experience working in food production or high care environments (desirable)
* Electrical or mechanical engineering background (desirable)
* Exposure to PPM systems and maintenance reporting tools (desirable)
* Experience liaising with production teams and external contractors (desirable)
