Westray Recruitment Group are seeking Mechanical Fitters to join our client in Washington who are a specialist manufacturer of vehicle mounted access platforms. They have been established for over 20 years and grown to serve businesses nationwide. They are acknowledged by their customers as one of the UK’s leading companies who value their unique expertise and support. They can provide role stability due to their long serving history with their clients.
As a result of increase in work, and a very strong order book which currently sits at over £4 million; they are seeking a multiple mechanical fitters to join their team.
THE ROLE
You will assemble mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electronic components
Fabrication and Welding skills would be advantageous
Assemble mechanical components of vehicle-mounted access platforms from engineering drawings and build instructions
Fit cherry pickers and excavators’ hydraulic systems, mechanical linkages, and structural assemblies to vehicle chassis
Carry out routine servicing, testing and inspections
Work on a variety of commercial vehicles including flatbeds, vans, and bespoke bodies
Collaborate with electrical and hydraulic fitters to ensure integrated system performance
Perform quality checks and functional tests on completed installations
Diagnose and rectify mechanical issues during build or commissioning stages
Ensure all work is completed to the required safety and quality standards
Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following health and safety procedures THE PERSON
You will be time-served fitter with qualifications (NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering or similar)
You will have your own hand tools; and specialist tools are available on site
You will be flexible to work overtime as and when needed
You will have good communication skills
You must have a good understanding of engineering drawings and standards
You will be comfortable working indoors or outdoors
Basic electrical skills up to 24V
Preferably within repair and manufacture of access platforms (cherry pickers)
Experience working with hydraulics and mechanical assemblies
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
