I am working with a Local Authority in the Leicestershire area who are seeking an experienced Food Safety Officer to support their Food Safety team.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct Category C food hygiene inspections in line with the Food Law Code of Practice.
* Complete accurate inspection reports and record all findings using council systems.
* Provide advice and support to food business operators to assist with compliance.
* Carry out follow‑up visits and enforcement activity where appropriate.
* Manage workload effectively to meet deadlines and inspection targets.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders as required and work flexibly across the district.
Essential Requirements
* Fully qualified Environmental Health Officer or suitably qualified Food Safety Technical Officer.
* Meets FSA competency requirements to undertake food hygiene official controls.
* Recent local authority experience conducting food hygiene inspections (ideally within the last few years).
* Completion of at least one local authority food hygiene inspection within the last 6 months.
* Minimum of 20 hours food‑related CPD.
* Registered with EHRB/EHORB (or equivalent evidence of competency).
* Confident using ICT systems for inspection recording and data entry.
* Strong communication, report‑writing, and organisational skills
