Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Drainage Engineer to join a busy local authority client in the Manchester area.
Responsibilities
* Support the Highways and Infrastructure teams in delivering drainage and flood risk management projects.
* Design, inspect, and maintain sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), culverts, sewers, and surface water networks in line with legislation and council standards.
* Provide technically accurate advice and support to internal teams, contractors, and the public regarding drainage schemes.
* Conduct site investigations, surveys, and feasibility assessments to inform design and maintenance decisions.
* Manage and implement drainage improvement projects, ensuring compliance with statutory and environmental requirements.
* Liaise effectively with residents, developers, and stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver customer‑focused solutions.
* Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and update management information systems for drainage schemes.
* Identify issues in assigned work, recommend improvements, and support process and service enhancements.
* Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations, service level agreements, and council standards.
* Commit to personal development and continuous improvement in service delivery.
