Purpose of the Role
The Junior Production Manager role on EastEnders is a fantastic opportunity for enhancing your production skills and taking your career to the next level.
We are on the lookout for people who have worked in soap as a First Assistant Director or extensively as Second Assistant Director or Production Coordinator and understand the dynamics of a multi‑team, multi‑unit and multi‑camera drama set up. You will work alongside a team of experienced Production Managers to manage schedule, cast and crew, and work closely with directors and producers to support creative ambition, whilst protecting the budget and schedule.
You will gain the experience to confidently lead your block from prep to delivery, remaining aligned with other block teams and reacting to change with ease and a pragmatic, organised approach.

The Production Management team on EastEnders are vital to the smooth running, safety and success of the show, and the Junior Production Manager plays a vital part in this. Working across blocks, the Production Management team are responsible for supporting scheduling, budget management, compliance and people management, and are the control centre for all that we do.

If you are invited to work on EastEnders you will need to be based in BBC Elstree, London for the duration of the contract, or live within a commutable distance. Unfortunately we don’t provide financial assistance for relocation or travel expenses.

Key Responsibilities and Impact
* Oversee preparation, crewing and shooting for assigned blocks
* Ensure projects meet financial and timeline targets without compromising creative quality through effective planning and monitoring
* Maintain a safe working environment and advise on relevant legislation and policies impacting production
* Act as a point of contact for crew and cast queries, escalating concerns, and collaborating with Directors and Producers to align creative vision with operational constraints
* Source suppliers, negotiate contracts for specialised services, and champion efficiency, diversity and inclusion within production
Essential Criteria
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Proven experience as a 1st Assistant Director, 2nd Assistant Director or Production Coordinator on a continuing drama, with strong knowledge of multi‑team, multi‑unit and multi‑camera setups
* A demonstratable understanding of managing schedules and budgets using tools like Excel and Movie Magic
* Demonstrable understanding of end‑to‑end multi‑platform production processes and experience in monitoring health and safety compliance
* Experienced in managing elements of production teams, resolving issues through difficult conversations, and providing constructive feedback to maintain performance standards and a positive, inclusive culture
* Exceptional ability to handle conflicting demands under tight deadlines, combined with a strong passion for drama, especially EastEnders
