About the Team
The Fleet Resource and Support team conduct whole life management of the vehicle fleets for WSCC. This currently consists of over 700 vehicles (up from 500 in the last 2 years) with a value of £35m, ranging from pool vehicles to those registered to our Operators Licence. Vehicles are under management via owned, leased, and rented avenues.
The main areas this includes are:
Identification of new assets required with directorates (above those already in fleet), governance within FRS and then WSCC and procurement of assets that enable all WSCC services to complete their functions.
Policy creation, implementation, compliance monitoring and reporting.
Fleet replacement planning, specifications, procurement and introduction of existing fleet.
Maintenance scheduling, legislative/legal compliance and completion of works.
Whole life cost management – for example fuel costs, depreciation, insurance costs, maintenance costs.
Cost collation, allocation and reporting for all activities.
Fleet disposal.
The Opportunity
Salary: £48,226 to £51,356 per annum
Working Pattern: Full time, 37 hours per week
Location: Fleet Workshops, Power Place, Chichester and working from home (Hybrid working)

As the Team Leader, you will be reporting to the Commercial and Fleet Logistics Manager and manage the Council's vehicle fleet and associated maintenance contracts, ensuring efficient operation and utilisation of the corporate fleet as well as the commercial opportunities it presents for maintenance.
The role will look after the WSCC Fleet Contracts and Procurement, and Fleet Support and Resource Teams to provide a vehicle management and maintenance service, supporting in the delivery of strategies to the communities of West Sussex, which includes maximising commercial opportunities for fleet services across West Sussex County Council.
What are we looking for?
To ensure the effective operation of the services, you will lead & manage your team, providing professional advice and guidance, seeking best solutions for customers' needs and maximising opportunities for improvements by embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
You will be an experienced leader, able to manage a team and related resources, often requiring co-ordination with other teams in closely related functions. This will include the performance management of the people within your team.
As an experienced manager, you will be able to identify and deliver significant change within both organisations to meet the changing requirements of both. You will build highly effective working relationships and influence activities, including working across and outside of the organisation to improve services.
Accountable for managing capital and revenue costs in your service area, you will need to seek other opportunities for efficiency savings and will be encouraged to generate income by exploring commercial opportunities with the resources available.
