The ideal candidate would have experience of using SystmOne,good sound knowledge of medical terminology, and have worked as a MedicalSecretary within the NHS.
You must be accurate, have good communication skills, be ateam player, and also be able to work flexibly in the absence of colleagues.
Main duties of the job
You will need to have previous medical secretarial andadministrative experience, preferably in a health care setting.It is essentialthat you have strong IT skills, a good level of general education, an extensiveknowledge of Office and Outlook (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email andinternet) along with advanced typing/word processing qualifications/skills.
You will need to have excellent communication, interpersonaland organisational skills. It's important that you are flexible, able to act onyour own initiative and work both independently and as part of a team. You mustbe able to work under pressure to tight deadlines and prioritise workloads aswell as being positive and enthusiastic.

Lister Medical Centre is based in Harlow, Essex.
We are a well-established, friendly teaching practice, andour dedicated team includes 8 GPs, 4 Emergency Care Practitioners, 3 PracticeNurses, 2 Nursing Associates, 2 Physician Associate, 4 HCAs and 17admin/support staff. We have been providing a full range of GP services forover 30 years and have a patient list size of over 21,000 patients.
As a teaching practice, we have Foundation Doctors andStudents from Cambridge University based with us.
We are situated in a purpose-built health centre close tolocal amenities.

Job summary:

Job responsibilities:
1. Processing of task requests received from All Staffincluding GPs & Clinical Staff- examples include:
- 2ww-CWT, urgent and routine referral
- Community referrals
- ADHD-ASD referral
- Advice & Guidance Requests
- Private Referral Requests
2. Ensuring all referrals are processed in a timely manneras per practice guidelines
3. Using Accurx triage system to process requests received
4. Daily checks of choose & book work lists one-referral system:
- Further information required
5. Workflow document management action requests received
6. Dictation using Lexacom system
7. Receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls inorder to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, takingmessages and dealing with appropriate queries.
8. Processing external safeguarding requests
9. Actioningnotification of Death and Coroners requests
10. Action emails in Secretary's and Practice inbox
11. Liaising with consultants and their secretarial teams
12. Provide cover for members of the secretarial team duringperiods of sickness and annual leave.
13. Work closely with other departments to ensure the bestcare for the patient

Qualifications
* - Previous NHS experience is essential.

* - Very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages primarily; Word and Excel
* - Knowledge of SystmOne would be advantageous
* - Previous use of eRS referral pathway
