MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* To be the first point of contact for referrals where concerns have been identified over an individual's drug and/ or alcohol use.
* To deliver educational workshops around the risks of excessive substance misuse, and supportive spaces to guide people looking to reduce their drug and alcohol intake or abstain.
* To work with a caseload of residents, listening to identify the needs and wishes of the individual, building trusting relationships and supporting them to develop a personalised support & treatment plan.
* To take a holistic approach, encouraging meaningful use of time and engagement with family and community to improve emotional and physical health.
* In conjunction with the resident, work in partnership with housing coaches and the mental wellness team to connect people to appropriate community and emergency support services – including rehab.
* Support residents to attend appointments – including at points of crisis, making applications that may improve mental wellbeing where appropriate
* Monitor and review progress, amending the treatment plan where necessary and keeping accurate records on our CRM system – InForm.
* Keep housing coaches informed of progress or decline and any changes to risk level
* Work with skills coaches to help residents in your caseload to access therapeutic activities and actively contribute to the development of wellbeing activities
* To travel to projects across Bedford & Luton to meet with residents as required.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experience & knowledge:
Experience of supporting people with drug and alcohol addiction and working in partnership to achieve best outcomes – Essential
Experience of liaising with other key stakeholders (voluntary/ statutory agencies and healthcare professionals) to achieve successful outcomes. – Essential
Sound understanding of the impact of complex trauma on mental & physical health outcomes – Essential
A good knowledge of the issues facing people who have experienced homelessness and/ or domestic abuse and homelessness issues in general – Essential
Working in supported accommodation for those experiencing homelessness and/ or domestic abuse – Desirable
Good understanding of Trauma Informed Care as part of a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) – Desirable
Good understanding of the Safeguarding Agenda – Essential
Education and Qualifications:
Qualification in addiction/ mental health/ psychology or related social care discipline. Essential
Evidence of relevant CPD – Essential
MHFA Desirable
Skills and Abilities:
Energetic and confident, with the ability to build strong working relationships with residents while maintaining professional boundaries – Essential
The ability to be tactful and sensitive in communication and to empathise – Essential
Ability to stay calm and 'think on your feet' in crisis situations – Essential
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and communicate with people at all levels. – Essential
Competent in the use of IT for communicating and recording data – Essential
The ability to work on own initiative within a busy environment – Essential
Effective time management skills – Essential

SCHEDULE:
