Job summary
The FSA is a non-ministerial department of over 1300 people. Having left the EU, we play a critical role in protecting public health and consumers wider interests in food across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our vision is an important one - to drive change, delivering food we can trust and working towards a healthier and more sustainable food system.
The Agencys mission to protect public health is achieved through a number of approaches, but the heart of what we do is making sure that food in the UK is safe, and that it is what it says it is. This remit includes food produced in the UK but also, vitally, that which is imported. The Imported Delivery Team works to ensure exactly this: that food imported into the UK is safe, and exactly what it says it is.
Job description
The purpose of this role is to lead and develop specific workstreams within the Imports Delivery Teamwork programme. This includes the imported food surveillance programme and delivering the management of imported food sampling and funding programmes, in providing support to our port health authority and local authority partners who are responsible for delivering the current system of official controls on imported food. You will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of a programme of work on time and to budget to ensure the Imports Delivery Team is able to deliver our outcomes effectively both now and in the future.
You will work with senior colleagues across the FSA, in other Government departments and with our delivery partners to establish and deliver a programme of work which will enable change to be managed and to deliver the new regulatory landscape in relation to imports and exports following the UKs departure from the EU.
You will be expected to represent the FSA credibly and sensitively at regional, and national forums, with partner agencies and Government departments. You will develop and maintain productive relationships with key partners and customers, both in the UK and abroad. You will be responsible for future proofing the FSAs imports capability.
