This is a diverse role which involves the day‑to‑day delivery of a high standard of support to the nursing team within the prison setting at HMP Glenochil while working autonomously within competencies. The role is aimed at a population with complex mental health, physical, psychological, substance misuse and social problems, and requires strict adherence to security procedures.
Responsibilities
* Deliver consistent, person‑centred support to the nursing team.
* Collaborate autonomously within a multidisciplinary team to improve the physical, mental health and wellbeing of prisoners.
* Support rehabilitation and assist clinicians in providing high‑quality, efficient care to individual patients across their healthcare journey.
* Maintain a high level of awareness of and compliance with security procedures in the prison environment.
Qualifications
* Relevant experience in healthcare, SVQ3 or equivalent qualification.
* Competency in venepuncture.
* Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
* Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with a focus on continuous professional development.
As of 1/4/26, the full‑time working week under the Agenda for Change will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata, but a corresponding increase in the hourly rate will be applied so that pay is not affected.
