Band 7 or Band 7 (Annex 21) dependant on experience. Based at Borders General Hospital, Borders Eye Centre.
Role details
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and clinically focused Optometrist to join the Borders Eye Centre, based at Borders General Hospital. We have two full days of optometry time available. This can be structured as one post covering two days or two separate posts for one day each. We welcome applications for either a permanent position or a one-year contract.
Responsibilities
* Deliver core hospital optometry services including paediatric assessments
* Subspecialty clinics – glaucoma, medical retina
* General acute services
Training and development
Training and support will be provided in the area of your interest to help develop the necessary clinical skills and confidence. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the development of other professional groups and support students within the department.
Candidate requirements
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in optometry
* Current registration with the General Optical Council (GOC)
Working in the United Kingdom
There is a legal requirement to demonstrate permission to work in the UK. NHS Scotland Boards will check entitlement to work in the UK as part of pre-employment checks. In some cases, sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa may be possible if the employer is a licensed Sponsor and if the post meets salary thresholds.
