Pituitary/Endoscopic Skullbase Fellow in Neurosurgery

GRADE: Trust Doctor ST7 and above

SUPERVISING CONSULTANT: Mr S Cudlip

WORK PATTERN: To be agreed with supervisingconsultant

AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS PER WEEK: 48 hours. Two tier ROTA, on second tier

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: FRCS, preferably FRCS (SN) or equivalent

GMC REQUIREMENT: Full registration

Start date for this post is August 2026.

Main duties of the job
To provide further sub-specialisation experience in Pituitary and Minimally invasive / Endoscopic Skull-base surgery.

To provide 16 - 32hrs of general neurosurgery on-call cover per week, two tier ROTA, on second tier.

To work with the Endocrine team and neurosurgeons based at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Job responsibilities
To provide further sub-specialisation experience in Pituitary and Minimally invasive / Endoscopic Skull-base surgery.

To provide 16 - 32hrs of general neurosurgery on-call cover per week, two tier ROTA, on second tier.

The Fellow may be expected to participate in teaching of the specialist registrars and occasionally other medical and non-medical personnel. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate professional development within the post by attending relevant meetings and producing at least one peer reviewed publication during their tenure.

Person Specification
Qualifications

GMC Registration

FRCS or equivalent

Higher Medical Degree / FRCS (SN)

Experience

General training in Neurosurgery to specialist level or equivalent

Interest in research with publications

Skills & Knowledge

Sufficient leadership, organisational, communication, professional and personal skills

Undertake effectively the role of clinical fellow in Skull Base Neurosurgery in a large teaching hospital.

Good personal and interpersonal skills Good spoken and written English. Communication skills should be highly developed.

Experience of teaching undergraduates and trainees

Knowledge of the organisation of the NHS and the Government's agenda for its modernisation.
