You will be joining a respected public sector organisation responsible for supporting the delivery of fair and effective employment relations across Northern Ireland. The organisation plays a key role in promoting good practice, providing statutory services, and ensuring effectiveernance. Due to ongoing demand, they are seeking a Finance Officer to strengthen their finance andernance function. A reserve list will also be created for future positions.
Your new role
1. Analyse financial data and manage in‑year budgets, including monthly profiling, monitoring variances and producing management accounts.
2. Coordinate and deliver month‑end and year‑end processes, ensuring accurate consolidated accounts and monthly accounts for internal bodies.
3. Oversee payroll processing and supervise finance support staff across payroll, ledgers and other core financial functions.
4. Support internal and external audits, maintain financial procedures and ensurepliance withernance standards.
5. Contribute to procurement activities, pension returns and the maintenance of key financial registers.
6. Provide financial reports, support senior management, and assist with improvements to financial systems, processes and service delivery.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you must meet one of the following qualification routes:Academic Route:
7. AAT Professional Diploma OR ATI Diploma for Accounting Technicians OR An equivalent CCAB/CIMA‑recognised accounting/finance qualification
PLUS at least 3 years’ relevant experience
ORNon‑Academic Route:
8. At least 5 years’ relevant experience
Your experience must include:
9. Supervising staff within a finance environment
10. Preparing monthly management accounts
11. Budget management
And experience in at least two of the following:
12. Payroll processing & HMRC online returns
13. Working with internal and external auditors
14. Procurement (ideally in public sector)
You will also need strongmunication skills, excellent Excel capability, confidence with accounting principles, and the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
