Overview
Are you an experienced nurse passionate about delivering specialist care and ready to take the next step in your career? We are offering a substantive Band 6 position within our Dermatology Treatment Unit (DTU), part of the Acute Specialist Medicine Division at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
The DTU operates across St Mary’s, Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals, providing high-quality care to patients with various skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and vitiligo. You will work closely with consultants, clinical nurse specialists and other MDT members to deliver safe, evidence-based care.
Main duties of the job
* Deliver specialist nursing care and education to support patient self-management.
* Participate in and provide treatments such as Ultraviolet Phototherapy, Patch Testing, Topical Education and Photodynamic Therapy.
* Take charge of clinical areas in the absence of senior staff and contribute to service development.
* Provide mentorship and clinical supervision to junior staff and students.
* Engage in research, audit and continuous professional development.

Education/ qualifications
* Essential: Registered Nurse
* Desirable: Masters or working towards one; Teaching & Assessing qualification or equivalent teaching experience; Non-Medical prescribing course
Experience
* Essential: 12 months minimum experience as a Band 5 Dermatology Nurse; Experience of administering treatments specific to the DTU – Phototherapy, Iontophoresis, patch testing, topical medications; Experience of supervision of junior staff/students; Excellent level of English language demonstrated through effective written communication skills
* Desirable: Skin biopsy experience; Ability to carry out nurse-led clinics
