We do this by providing a safe home, increasing life skills and self-confidence, and improving emotional wellbeing and mental health. Our services deliver specialist 24-hour supported accommodation where young people are supported to acquire the necessary skills in preparation for living independently, safely explore their increased freedom of choice, and develop responsibilities associated with adulthood, whilst still having the appropriate level of support from an experienced team.
We adopt a trauma-informed and psychologically informed approach to supporting our residents to help them build essential life skills, identify their goals, and support residents into independent accommodation. We have a dedicated team of Support Workers, Night Workers, and additional Bank Workers who provide support, guidance, and signposting around areas such as housing, budgeting, living skills, jobs, and relationship building.
We are looking for a Supported Housing Support Worker to join our Ewhurst Road team, who will hold a caseload of residents and meet with them weekly to build a support plan. Main responsibilities include:
1. Housing: Coach young people to manage their occupancy agreement and adhere to house rules, promote a credit culture, maintain knowledge of housing and welfare benefits, and deal effectively with non-compliance issues.
2. Coaching and Engagement: Coach young people to articulate their aspirations, encourage responsibility for personal development, and ensure safeguarding and trauma-informed practices are observed.
3. Record Keeping: Maintain client records on In-Form, detailing the young person's journey, risks, and outcomes.
4. General: Work as part of a team on a rota shift pattern, contribute to a positive working environment, participate in professional development, and handle potentially difficult situations with a calm yet assertive manner.
5. Experience and Knowledge: Experience with housing, support work, or working with young people at risk; knowledge of statutory and voluntary resources; safeguarding procedures.
6. Skills and Abilities: Effective communication, relationship-building, autonomous working, de-escalation skills, and IT proficiency.
We are committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. If you require assistance with your application, please contact us. Successful applicants will undertake an Enhanced DBS check and other background checks.
