The Housing and Homelessness Service is a very busy environment facing several challenges in meeting the housing needs of citizens of Coventry. The team has grown significantly over the last 12 months, reflecting that Housing & Homelessness are now key council priorities.
The team is responsible for the delivery of the following service functions:
1. Provision of the statutory homeless service
2. Provision of temporary accommodation
3. Management of the housing register
4. Coordination of support to citizens rough sleeping
5. Commissioning of homeless services
6. Responsibility for housing strategy
The Council's strategic vision is outlined in both the Housing & Homelessness and the Rough Sleeping Strategies, approved in 2019.

Job Role
Due to expansion, we are excited to announce new developments across the supported accommodation service. Our work will now extend to multiple sites within the city. This is a great opportunity to join a growing team making a real difference to residents and the community.
You will manage a caseload of properties, working with individuals in temporary accommodation to resolve issues promptly and secure permanent housing. Creativity, solution-focus, negotiation, and connection skills are essential, as is the ability to work in a reactive environment.
This role involves shift work: 07:30 - 16:00 & 11:00 - 19:30, Monday to Friday.
This position is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and appointment is conditional upon a satisfactory DBS check.
Candidate Profile
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
* A positive attitude towards helping people overcome homelessness
* Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
* Resilience and determination to achieve outcomes for homeless individuals
* Willingness to learn relevant housing and homelessness legislation
* Ability to travel around the city
You should be proactive, forward-thinking, and solutions-oriented. A full UK driving license and access to a car are required.
