What does a Regeneration and Economic Development Manager do at Hillingdon?
If you are passionate about creating places where people and businesses thrive, this new position in our recently redesigned Strategic Planning and Regeneration Service might just be the role for you.
Focused on place shaping, partnership working, inward investment and problem solving, this position will see you lead a team of experts to deliver regeneration and economic development projects and programmes, business support, and strategic area-based interventions to ensure that the borough continues to grow and thrive.
Collaboration will be key, so expect to work with high profile organisations like Brunel University, Heathrow Airport, High Speed 2, Greater London Authority, West London Alliance, West London Business and the Hillingdon Chamber of Commerce to ensure we drive sustainable regeneration and economic growth in Hillingdon.
About you
The Strategic Planning and Regeneration Service has ambitious plans to drive inward investment, lead place shaping and build a strong, sustainable, and thriving economy that benefits our community. We are looking for someone who shares our passion for place, community and sustainable growth and will be able to champion our economic development and regeneration agenda for the borough.
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate how they meet the below criteria:
1. Educated to degree level or equivalent in a planning, property, economic development, regeneration or business subject or equivalent by experience
2. Experience of managing a team of regeneration or economic development officers
3. Significant, demonstrable experience in successful partnership working with the private, public and voluntary sector at a senior level
4. Proven track record of influencing and achieving results by working in partnership with a range of organisations at a senior level
5. Experience of budget management, funding programmes, grant applications and contracts preferably within a Local Government context
6. Experience of delivering complex projects and programmes to time and budget
7. Evidence of having brought innovation and creativity to find solutions to complex problems
8. Extensive and up to date knowledge of best practice and issues in regeneration and economic development
9. Knowledge of economic development and inward investment matters and an understanding of how collaboration with regeneration and development activities can maximise economic benefits for the borough
10. Ability to keep abreast of changes in national policy and legislation and update practices accordingly
11. Ability to identify and implement pragmatic solutions to both technical and management issues
12. Abillty to build and develop a high performing team
13. Proven negotiating and influencing skills
14. Ability to develop effective partnerships and promote the Borough as an investment destination
15. Ability to work with Elected Members
16. Excellent ICT skills with the ability to learn and use service specific software
