Food Technician
Location: Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire
Salary: £90 – £125 per day
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated and organised Food Technician to join a friendly and supportive secondary school in the Hull area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for food, nutrition, and education to play a vital role in supporting the Food Technology department.
Role Overview:
As a Food Technician, you will work closely with the Food Technology Teacher to prepare materials, ingredients, and equipment for practical lessons. You’ll ensure the smooth running of the classroom, uphold health and safety standards, and help students develop essential cooking and nutritional skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare, organise, and set up ingredients and equipment for food practicals.
* Support the teacher during lessons and assist students when required.
* Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety within the food preparation areas.
* Manage stock levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
* Assist with classroom displays and departmental resources.
* Adhere to all school safeguarding and health & safety policies.
Requirements:
* Previous experience as a Food Technician, Catering Assistant, or in a similar role (preferred).
* Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety procedures.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with staff and support students of varying abilities.
* A DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
