Work Location: Audleys Day Centre, Basingstoke
Hours per week: 37 (part-time hours will be considered)
Contract Type: Permanent

The Role:

As a Day Opportunities Coordinator, you'll be supporting young adults with learning and/ or physical disabilities, each with their own unique needs, abilities, and interests. You'll take a lead role within the team, supervising others and planning activities. Helping people engage in fun, personalised activities that build social networks, you’ll promote choice and inclusion whilst ensuring they are safe and well.

What you’ll do:

1. Provide leadership: Supervise, guide and motivate Support Workers, assisting with the day-to-day planning and coordination of the team. You’ll enjoy coaching and mentoring others to be their best.
2. Engage in fulfilling personalised activities: Support service users to take part in activities, tailored to their individual physical, mental, social and emotional needs, such as sensory experiences, cooking, arts and crafts, gardening, bowling, trips to the cinema and sharing their hobbies.
3. Help with daily living activities: Support service users with eating, drinking, mobility, personal care, and medication, ensuring everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
4. Promote community involvement: Support service users in their involvement in local community projects, helping them to integrate and develop important social networks.
5. Build relationships: Establish positive connections with service users, celebrating their achievements and milestones.

What we’re looking for:

6. Experience: You’ll have a successful track record of working with people with learning disabilities in a Day Services environment. You’ll hold an NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care or have equivalent experience.
7. Leadership: Able to lead and motivate others in the team, providing training, support and guidance to less experienced staff, whilst role modelling high standards of care and support.
8. Problem-solving skills: You’ll be confident handling a range of situations, identifying actions and suggesting and implementing changes for improvements.
9. Communication skills: Clear and effective communicator and the ability to interact with service users with a diverse range of complex communication and sensory support needs.
10. Team player: Enjoy working closely with others to consistently provide the best support possible.
11. Patience and dedication: A genuine desire to help others and make a positive and lasting difference to their lives. Your commitment to promoting independence, will empower our service users to learn, grow in confidence and enjoy a wide range of interesting activities.

For this role there is no requirement to work evenings, weekends, or bank holidays.
