Job description

Do you want to work with a supportive team whose common goal is to empower and support children and young adults? Do you want to be part of a team that is empowering, caring and truly transformative? Look no further! Our client has fantastic benefits and a great culture.

Our client is seeking a Children and Young Adults Support Worker to join their team at one of their homes in Meldreth, Nr. Royston (South Cambridgeshire / North Hertfordshire border).

This children's home and school provides education, care and therapeutic support for children and young people aged 9-19 years with severe and profound communication difficulties associated with conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism, brain injury and degenerative disorders.

This is a tough yet totally rewarding role. Ultimately, we are looking for people with a passion to build relationships and positively change the lives of the children and young adults that our client works with. While previous experience would be highly beneficial, it is not essential. What's more important to us is that you can demonstrate the right attitude to make a difference.

You will work on a 4-week rota pattern - average 40 hours per week for full-time and flexible part-time shifts/hours available, including weekend-only hours. Full training is provided, and once you pass probation, you will be supported and funded to complete a Level 3 diploma in Residential Child Care.

Duties:

* Providing high levels of care during daily activities such as washing, dressing, socialising, learning, and personal care.
* Assisting with therapy sessions like hydrotherapy and rebound therapy.
* Communicating effectively and building strong relationships that empower children and young adults to grow and develop.
* Ensuring the environment is safe, supportive, and enjoyable.
* Helping develop learning and social skills whenever possible.

Requirements:

* Willingness to learn and go the extra mile.
* Ability to guide and encourage supportive independence when possible.
* Exceptional communication skills and patience.
* Resilient with a positive and robust nature.
* Ability to be creative in meeting the needs of children and young adults.
* Ability to work on a rota pattern, typically including working every other weekend.

Benefits:

* Full training and ongoing support.
* Welcome bonus of £1500 payable in two installments—50% after successful probation, and 50% after one year of service.
* Funding to study the Level 3 diploma in Residential Child Care.
* Part-time hours available if required.
* 33 days' holiday including bank holidays.
* Life assurance.
* Enhanced pension scheme.
* Health cashback plan.
* Car lease scheme.
* Bike-to-work scheme.
* Perkbox benefits.
* Free parking.
