Overview
Environment Agency is looking for a Manager to lead the Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The ECU is a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals. We support flexible working patterns, including job share.
Responsibilities
* Lead the ECU, the Asset Denial Team and the Money Laundering Investigation Team, and manage a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer.
* Provide strong leadership, motivate and develop the team, and manage performance and work delivery.
* Act as strategic lead for financial investigations to ensure obligations under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) are fulfilled.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC).
* Influence at a senior level to ensure EA priorities are supported by external enforcement agencies.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes and understanding POCA; share lessons learned and advise other enforcement officers.
* Work as part of a nationally dispersed team with the most serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
Experience / Skills Required
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience in leading a dispersed team.
* Good understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act.
* Experience in working in the law enforcement sector and understanding of the National Intelligence Model.
* Effective communication including delivering feedback, managing performance and building relationships with external stakeholders.
* Ability to work under pressure and prioritise a varied workload.
* Ability to identify areas for improvement and lead changes to working practices.
* Experience in developing and enhancing the capability of a team and its members.
Additional Information
* This is a hybrid role with flexible working from home and your nearest office. Travel across the country for meetings and operational duties may be required. Incident response is part of the role, and you may be required to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support; this may attract additional payment.
