We are seeking a Lead Welder to support the delivery of high-quality welding operations across our client's scope of works at a massive project in Leiston. This role requires extensive experience in welding carbon steel and the ability to lead safe, precise, and compliant welding activities in line with industry standards and project specifications.
As a Lead Welder, you will perform complex welding operations, monitor work quality, advise on scaffold adjustments, and ensure that nuclear safety, health, and environmental standards are rigorously applied.
Main Responsibilities
Welding Operations
* Carry out manual welding, tack-welding, and assembly of pressure parts, tubes, pipes, plates, supports, and structural works.
* Perform welding in line with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
* Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating, warping, shrinkage, or distortion.
* Set up and operate welding tools, both hand and power, safely and effectively.
* Conduct visual inspections during welding operations to confirm compliance.
Safety & Compliance
1. Enforce a zero-harm approach, prioritising nuclear safety and site security at all times.
2. Work in line with site safety regulations, method statements, and risk assessments.
3. Promote and apply the STAR strategy: Stop, Think, Act, Review.
