The Estates team has over 250 colleagues, working across all of our sites on everything from the refurbishment of buildings to catering.
Our Building Services teams strive to maintain and enhance the exceptional facilities and services that empower our students and staff to thrive in a safe, welcoming, and inspiring setting for our community.
The maintenance team is responsible for looking after the buildings, sites and systems, through planned and reactive maintenance which is scheduled and provided by our team of skilled professionals.
The Estates Department plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing our built environment. We are committed to creating safe, sustainable, and inspiring spaces that support learning, research, and student life.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Building Maintenance Surveyor to join our Estates team. This is a site-first role, requiring regular presence across our estate to assess building conditions, oversee works, and engage directly with contractors and stakeholders.
You will lead on identifying building defects, preparing specifications and tender documents, and managing maintenance projects from inception to completion. Working closely with contractors and internal teams, you’ll help deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions aligned with our Estates Strategy.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will require the following qualifications, experience and skills:
* Qualified to at least HND level in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
* Experienced in building surveying, ideally within a maintenance context.
* Adaptive and comfortable working in a dynamic, site-based environment.
* Knowledgeable in building pathology, statutory compliance, and health & safety.
* Skilled in preparing specifications, managing contractors, and overseeing projects.
* Confident using ICT systems, including CAFM systems.
* A strong communicator with excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
* Motivated, diligent, and committed to continuous improvement.
