Head Registered Veterinary Nurse - Hertford

About the Role:
The Head Registered Veterinary Nurse will play a pivotal role in the daily operations of the practice, ensuring high standards of patient and client care. Responsibilities include:
* Leading and motivating the clinical team to achieve personal and practice goals.
* Overseeing the development of RVNs’ surgical and medical interests.
* Supporting the training and progression of the nurse and VCA teams.
* Conducting appraisals and clinical care audits.
* Acting as a role model and providing hands-on assistance where needed.
The role offers flexibility with full or part-time hours available. Shifts include:
* 08:45 - 17:15
* 10:45 - 19:15
There is a 1-in-3 Saturday rota (09:00 - 13:00), compensated with extra pay or time off in lieu.
No out-of-hours work is required.
Responsibilities:
* The practice provides a wide and varied caseload, with visiting specialists performing advanced procedures such as cardiac scans, abdominal ultrasounds with sampling, and orthopaedic surgeries.
* Nurses are actively involved in all aspects of the practice, from assisting in theatre to running nurse clinics.
* The practice values a collaborative and supportive working environment, with a high percentage of insured pets and extended appointment times for optimal client and patient care.

The practice is located in the picturesque town of Hertford and operates from purpose-built premises equipped with modern facilities, including separate wards for cats and dogs, an isolation unit, ultrasound, digital X-ray, an in-house laboratory, capnography with pulse oximetry, and a dedicated sterile theatre. The team comprises 2 Veterinary Surgeons, 1 Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN), 2 Veterinary Care Assistants (VCAs), and a full-time receptionist.
