We are looking for SEND Support Assistants to join a dedicated team at a Primary SEND School near High Wycombe, supporting children with a range of complex needs in a nurturing environment.

What You’ll Do:
* Support Children with ASD and Learning Difficulties: Work closely with primary-aged children with autism, learning difficulties, and additional needs.
* Use Communication Techniques: Support non-verbal pupils using visuals and Makaton to aid communication.
* Manage Dysregulation: Assist children who may engage in biting, kicking, or scratching when dysregulated, using de-escalation and calming techniques.
* Promote Learning & Play: Foster learning through play and structured activities to support the development of each child’s abilities.
* Provide Intimate Care: Be prepared to assist with intimate care needs where required.
* Support Sensory Regulation: Use sensory calming techniques to help children in crisis regain composure and engage in learning.
* Support Phonics and Communication: Use your basic understanding of phonics to help children with their early literacy skills.
What We’re Looking For:
* Safeguarding Knowledge: Ability to follow policy and procedure, including basic safeguarding practices and reporting concerns.
* Strong Communication Skills: Ability to converse fluently in English, with a good understanding and comprehension of verbal instructions.
* Experience with SEND: Previous experience working with primary-aged children with autism, learning difficulties, and complex needs is essential.
* Comfortable with Challenging Behaviour: Experience in managing challenging behaviours such as biting, kicking, or scratching when children are dysregulated.
* Communication Support: Experience using Makaton or visuals to aid communication with non-verbal pupils.
* Crisis Management: Knowledge of sensory calming techniques to help children during moments of crisis or anxiety.
* Willingness to Provide Intimate Care: Be willing and able to assist with intimate care where necessary.
* Playful & Engaging: Able to engage children through play to foster connection and learning.
* Phonics Knowledge: A basic understanding of phonics to support literacy development in younger learners.
Details:
* Full-time positions available (Hours: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday).
* Location: Near High Wycombe.
* Prior school experience is required.
* Competitive pay with statutory holiday pay included (12.07%).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
