Overview
We are hiring! We are looking for an Electrical CAD Technician with experience in block cable diagrams, substation layouts and SLDs.
As a CAD Technician you will have an awareness of electrical network design and understanding of the technical drawings and document management control processes. You will share responsibility for managing and updating project design drawings and ensuring customer satisfaction in everything we do. You will take ownership of and proactively seek support and resolution of any connectivity and layout design issues on Customer’s projects including optioneering, discussions with the design engineer and our supply chain. You will ensure all work is carried out to the highest quality and in accordance with health, safety and environment legislation, whilst always providing an excellent service to our customers.
What you will be doing
Customer
* Support opportunities for increased customer satisfaction and commercial growth, ensuring we build, maintain and sustain effective relationships with customers.
* Act as an ambassador for the business and the customer when engaging with third party organisations, advocating the company Purpose and Principles.
Project Design
* Receive hand drawn and/or electronic sketch designs from engineers and convert into CAD format.
* Provide electronic and paper drawings for engineers to use and issue for Tender, Construction and As Laid purposes.
* Storage of drawings in appropriate filing structure.
* Highlight to Project Managers variations to the original design for commercial payment purposes.
Safety / Risk
* To support our safety culture, report on “safety observations”, any operational accident and/or near-miss, and routinely carry out site observations and attend safety briefings and site toolbox talks as required.
Commercial
* Deliver on time, to budget, maximising profit wherever possible while ensuring compliance with all commercial obligations.
Who we’re looking for
* Excellent CAD knowledge and experience specifically using AutoCAD software (essential).
* A good understanding of the electricity distribution network, substation switchgear, transformers, underground networks and metering room layouts (Essential) Primary & Transmission level Substation Layouts.
* An ONC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering as minimum qualification or equivalent.
* Proven experience working with Electrical Protection & Control (P&C) Diagrams (SLDs, KLDs & Block Cable Diagrams).
* Proven experience implementing and continuously improving document issue and control methodology.
* Knowledge of Electricity Asset Data Records (GIS), and relevant Electricity Specifications.
* Knowledge of electrical modelling software (i.e., ETAP, Digsilent).
* Proven ability to meet deadlines to achieve individual, team and business targets.
* Experience of working in a Customer Service environment.
The successful candidate must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK without sponsorship.
